Municipality of Wawa
Director Infrastructure Services
Wawa is a small friendly Northern Ontario community with a population of just over 3000. It is a regional centre situated conveniently on the Trans-Canada Highway just over 200 km north of Sault Ste. Marie and 5 hours south of Thunder Bay in Ontario.
Quite often remembered for the famous Wawa Goose Monument…a giant 4 ton statue of the Canada Goose which proudly stands at the entrance to the community… it is reported to be the most photographed landmark in North America.
In order to meet the needs and interests of the residents of Wawa, the Director of Infrastructure Services will run programs and services – for everything from airport, roads and bridges, to streetlights and water & sewer. Waste collection, landfill site, animal control and cemetery as well as maintenance of public works, municipal buildings and equipment will all be under your direction. You should have a post-secondary education in civil engineering and experience in public works.
After work you can enjoy boating or fishing on Lake Wawa or just take some time to reconnect with nature along the shores of the Great Lake Superior.
In terms of education, health care, government services, and retail sector, Wawa is well provided for. We invite you to take a trip through the Wawa Web Site and discover our community for yourself … Wawa even has its own Tim Hortons!
As with many other Northern Ontario communities, Wawa’s history is steeped in the mining of minerals. It was gold that first attracted many prospectors to the area, perhaps you’ll stake your claim here too.
