Manager of Permits & Inspections‎

The Job

Reporting to the Director of Planning, Land Development & Permits you are ready to take on the role of Manager of Permits & Inspections. You and your team will be responsible for ensuring that permits are issued in timely manner and in accordance with local, provincial as well as all applicable bylaws, policies and regulations. Your ability to manage the department’s budget on a day to day basis within the annual budget for the department is essential. You will bring to the job an ability to select, train, develop and motivate your staff. You are a natural relationship builder able to work effectively with everyone from internal contacts to Council, the Design and Review Committee as well the Board of Variance. You are able to provide solid recommendations that will lead to the creation of effective policies. You will be the source of information and advice to every level of the organization and especially the public. You will also represent the District in matters relating to claims, working with adjusters and in court with various lawyers.

Your Experience

Your more than 5 years’ experience as a supervisor in local government will be complimented by your diploma in engineering or architecture and the courses you have taken in public administration. Your good working knowledge of the BC Building Code along with other codes and regulations will make complex plans and specs easy for you to interpret.

The salary and benefits package will reflect the importance of the position. Ravenhill Group Inc. will conduct preliminary interviews as applications are received. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited for an on-site interview. The selection process may also involve a supplemental questionnaire. Interviews with the District will be conducted in late September.

It is anticipated that the new Manager will join the District of West Vancouver in September/October 2015 or at a mutually agreeable date. This is a highly confidential search process. References will not be contacted until mutual interest has been established.
