The Richmond Olympic Oval (which is wholly owned by the City of Richmond) is a breathtaking venue located on the banks of the Fraser River and winner of the Institution of Structural Engineers top award for Sports or Leisure Structures.
Home to long track speed skating during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Oval offers an inspiring environment for all ages and skill levels to progress towards their own personal podiums. The Oval boasts a 23,000 sq. ft. Fitness Centre with over 100 pieces of strength and cardio equipment, 2 Olympic sized ice rinks, 18 badminton courts, 13 FIVB regulation volleyball courts and a whole lot more.
Today more than 300 people work at the Oval. The goal of management is to make the Oval an international centre of excellence for sports, health and wellness, culture and entertainment.
The Richmond Oval seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to partner with Oval leaders to help them meet their objectives. In order to effectively partner with management you will need an understanding of how management works and also be one who will quickly grasp how each position in the organization works so that you will be able to effectively provide guidance to staff and effectively recruit for the business.
You will be expected to develop close relationships with staff at every level of the organization and be well able to provide sound advice on such matters as: talent planning, performance management, employee relations, coaching and leadership training. You will need to be a subject matter expert on all things HR (ESA, best practices, company policies/procedures) so staff are clear on their ‘next steps’. You will provide staff with a perspective on matters so they understand the bigger picture and its relevance to them and their situation. Our ideal candidate will be hard working, very educated/experienced in HR matters, energetic, enthusiastic, approachable and friendly. Experience with the collective bargaining process would be ideal.

It is anticipated that the new Manager will join the Richmond Oval in June 2015 or at a mutually agreeable date.
